Hi Clarissa and Kyra!
I would love to be considered as illustrator, to work with the Antithesis team on the production of your 29th volume.
I’m a studio artist, independent writer and children’s author, working from Regional NSW, Sydney and Taipei. I’m currently creating my second picture book with Melbourne-based publisher Little Hare Books, due for release in October this year. My first, Australian Birds, was released in 2018. I have been programmed to appear at Sydney Writer’s Festival in May this year.
As a visual artist, I focus on portrait and landscape subjects in pencil and watercolour, drawn from an exploration of Asian perspective devices via my Chinese heritage. Most recently, my work was shown in a solo exhibition at Sydney’s May Space. This year, I am preparing a body of work for my next solo exhibition, at Pon Ding Space in Taipei, in late 2019.
As a writer, I am interested in Australian national identity and the semiotics of public space. I have recently written for Overland Literary Journal, Meanjin Quarterly and Runway Australian Experimental Art.
Each aspect of my practice requires creative collaboration, high productivity, quality, consistency and strict deadlines. I would love to bring my skills and experience to Antithesis Journal in 2019.
Best wishes for the selection process, and please contact me at any time for further discussion.
Kind Regards, Matt.
