My 8-year-old has chosen his own clothes (and declined to cut his hair) for longer than I can remember. Recently, I've started documenting his various outfits with little pencil and watercolour sketches.
In a culture that still rewards boys for gender normative dress and behaviour, he wears his favourite pink tights and French braids with gentle defiance.
